Pendulum with base

If you push the other spheres with one of the two outer spheres, the centre spheres remain at rest while the outer spheres oscillate. This great variation of our physics game shows the conservation of momentum. Carry out experiments with the children: Unless you let one ball bump from the outside or take two at the same time. Let the balls start at slightly different times and observe what happens. Where does the energy of the impulse go when you hold a thin, soft cardboard between the balls?

Additional names for this game are ball impact pendulum, ball pendulum, Newton pendulum or Newton cradle. It was invented by a physicist from France.
